Purcellville (Dec. 12, 2008) – The Osbourn Park High School girls basketball team came out strong against host Loudoun Valley Friday night, holding the Vikings to 4 points in the first quarter in rout to a 50-33 AAA Cedar Run victory.
The Vikes came back to out-score the the Yellow Jackets in the second quarter but still went into halftime down 17-21. Destiny Shearin led the OP team with 17 points total, scoring 8-10 from the line.
LV was unable to make up any more ground in the third quarter and went into the fourth down 23-31. Jessica Mullen was the high scorer for Loudoun Valley with 17 total points scoring 8 of those in the fourth quarter. In the end it was not enough as OP played hard in the fourth as well with Katie Tassa sinking two 3-pointers to seal the game.
Osbourn Park (2-0) and Loudoun Valley (3-2) will both be in action again Tuesday with OP facing Liberty at home and LV also at home against Battlefield.
